Young Scholars Academy (“YSA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides virtual enrichment programs, including live online classes, summer camps, and self-paced courses, through our website at youngscholarsacademy.org and related digital platforms (the “Site” and “Services”). By using our Site or enrolling in our programs, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our Site or Services.

We may update these terms at any time. Changes take effect 14 days after posting unless they address legal requirements or new features, in which case they take effect immediately. Continued use of our Services after any update constitutes your acceptance.

1. General Terms

Young Scholars Academy provides an online platform for connecting parents, students, and enrichment educators. Our Services include live virtual classes, summer camps, self-paced courses, community programming, and related content.

  • You must be 18 or older (or have parental/guardian consent) to register for or purchase our Services.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate information when registering or enrolling.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • YSA reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to our Services for any violation of these Terms.

2. Waiver of Liability

While we strive to create a safe, high-quality learning environment, you agree to the following:

Assumption of Risk: Participation in our Services carries inherent risks, including technical issues, content quality, and interactions with other users. These risks are your sole responsibility.

Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, YSA and its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of our Services. This includes, but is not limited to, disputes between users, unauthorized account access, dissatisfaction with course outcomes, or any interruption or unavailability of the platform.

Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold YSA harmless against any claims, damages, or expenses — including reasonable attorneys’ fees — arising from your use of our Services or your breach of these Terms.

3. Class Recordings & Media Release

Class Recordings: All classes are recorded for safety and liability purposes. Recordings are stored for up to 180 days and may be accessed by YSA staff as needed.

Release for Marketing Materials: By using our Services, you grant YSA a non-exclusive right to use your or your child’s likeness, voice, name, and performance captured during classes for promotional, advertising, and educational purposes across any media — including print, digital, and social platforms. We may use your or your child’s first name unless you request otherwise in writing.

Participation in recordings is voluntary. You may opt out by submitting a written request to support@youngscholarsacademy.org prior to the start of a semester. We will always obtain written consent before sharing anything publicly.

4. Satisfaction Guarantee

We stand behind our programs. Here is our promise:

Pay-in-Full Enrollments: If your child is not 100% in love with their course, we can switch them to another course of equal or lesser value, or issue a credit toward a future course. No risk. No stress.

Payment Plan Enrollments: If your child is not 100% in love with their course, we can issue a credit, switch them to a better-fit course, or stop all future payments starting 30 days from when you contact us. No risk. No stress.

Summer Camps: If your child is not 100% in love with their camp by the end of the first day, simply let us know. We can transfer them to another camp or issue a full credit toward a future camp. No risk. No stress.

5. Communication Consent

By providing your contact information, you consent to receive communications from YSA via email, phone, and SMS. These may include class updates, enrollment confirmations, community news, event invitations, and occasional promotional messages about new programs.

You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email or replying STOP to any SMS. Standard message and data rates may apply.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions Parents Ask.

Everything you need to know about Young Scholars Academy.

What is Young Scholars Academy?

YSA is a WASC-accredited virtual village for gifted, twice-exceptional, and differently-wired students ages 5–18. We offer 175 live online courses (from Minecraft Redstone Engineering to AP Psychology to Mock Trial) with a maximum of 6–8 students per course, taught by 22 hand-selected mentor teachers who are neurodivergent themselves. We serve 1,200+ families across 47+ states and 17 countries. This is not a marketplace. It's a school and a community.

How does it work?

During Fall and Spring semesters, courses meet once a week, live on Zoom, 50 minutes per session. During Summer, camps run Monday through Friday, one week at a time. When your child enrolls in 3 or more courses, they get free access to Homeroom Social Club — a weekly gathering with a consistent group of friends. Between courses, students hang out on our virtual campus where they walk as avatars, eat lunch together, and build real friendships with kids from around the world who finally get them.

Who is this for?

Gifted, twice-exceptional, and differently-wired students, including kids with ADHD, autism, giftedness, anxiety, dyslexia, and PDA. No diagnosis required. If your child is clever, quirky, and hasn't found their people yet, they belong here. About 65% of our families homeschool. The rest use us alongside traditional or charter schools.

Is this a low-demand environment?

Yes. No grades. No traditional homework. Cameras always optional. Challenge by choice. Students are never cold-called, never forced to participate, and never penalized for how they choose to engage. For students with PDA, demand avoidance, or anxiety, this is the difference between a program they resist and one they ask to log into.

How much does it cost?

Semester courses start at $624. Summer camps are $149–$169 per camp. Payment plans, sibling discounts, referral credits, and ESA/charter funding accepted. We're an approved vendor with 10+ state ESA programs.

Will my child actually make friends?

This is the part that surprises parents most. Your child joins a course about something they love and meets 6–8 kids who love it too. Same group all semester (or all week for camps). Parents tell us their children are more connected with this community than with anyone physically around them. 93% of families re-enroll because their kids won't let them stop.

What if it doesn't work?

100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Switch courses, receive a credit, or stop payments. No questions asked. We can offer this because we know what happens when these kids find their people.

What do parents get?

Virtual Coffee & Connect hours every couple of weeks. Regular Expert Talks with leaders like Seth Perler, Debbie Reber, and Dr. Temple Grandin. A Facebook group where families connect and support each other. Progress updates from mentors. And the ability to watch your child's courses anytime (just stay off camera). You're not just enrolling your child. You're joining a village.
